I am working as a proposal analyst in the IT field, something I never thought to consider during this journey to change the world of education through policy and governance. Sometimes I feel like I failed myself, settling for something I just happen to be good at. But after being in this position for a while, I can’t help but see the benefits of having a great job, working with great people, learning new skills (you should ask me about Illustrator), writing and editing on a daily basis, feeling satisfied by a great product, directing and managing processes, and much more. It is humbling and exciting. BUT that doesn’t mean my dream should disappear. So, I am putting a call out to the universe one more time. Read my purpose statement. Lindsey, WOW! A woman who quotes Steve Jobs, Orson Scott Card, and manages to get great insights into dating from economic analysis? You are incredible! What a breath of fresh air.
I think you made a number of keen insights into your sign (the one on your forehead) but you missed the subtext that the boys add themselves... and that is this: Oh my gosh, she is beautiful, funny, light hearted, treats me really nice, can I really be worthy of a woman of such obvious quality and charm?
Sadly, like the rich man who turned away from Christ, they turn away from you because they only heard half of the story. You know the story I mean, Matthew 19:24, "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." People hear that and stop listening. But they really need to know what comes next: "But Jesus beheld them [the disciples], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26) As your friend, there's nothing wrong with you -- you just need a guy who wants to see how the story unfolds. One who has in his mind and heart on what IS possible.
So happy you got a job Lindsey! :) And I had to work with Adobe design programs in college and I still fear Photoshop...my fav is Indesign and yes Illustrator can get hard!! Good luck with everything!

Jeff and Elle: Oh my gosh, if only I could work with Photoshop too. I have seen all these super cool tutorials online that include both...I could seriously become a super graphics geek....just trying to be like you ;)
